How a call works

The call

Every acquisition starts as a written call: what we need, the format, the rate, the de-identification standard, the closing date. Nothing is bought outside a call.

Submission

You submit under the call. Individuals sign once; firms sign an agreement that covers their staff. Every file carries the contributor's attestation.

Review

A domain editor reads the file against the call. Accepted, returned with a reason, or rejected. Returns may be resubmitted once.

Payment

Accepted files are paid within seven days at the call's rate. The license transfers at acceptance and the provenance record is written.

What we acquire

Documents in which a professional's judgment is written down. Not surveys, not annotations of someone else's data, not anything produced for the call.

License at acceptance

Nothing transfers until an editor accepts the file. Until then it is yours, and you can withdraw it.

Attestation on every file

You warrant that you hold the rights and that de-identification meets the call's standard. We check; the warranty stands.

Paid in seven days

At the rate in the call, to a bank account or against a firm's invoice. No fee on the contributor side.
